Moving closer to the European Grid Initiative

Category: home, Project

On 20 January, in Prague, Czech Republic, the policy board of the European Grid Initiative Design Study project officially endorsed the EGI Blueprint as the basis for the future pan-European Grid organisation, a major milestone for the European grid community.

This important document outlines the implementation plans and the transition from the existing projects to a sustainable production grid service. Bids from seven countries to host the central EGI coordinating body, "EGI.eu", have already been received and a decision will be made during the EGEE user forum in Catania, Italy in March.

As a next step, representatives of the EGEE project activities and management are gathering in Brussels, 27-28 January, to discuss in detail what the transition will involve for each activity in the project. Watch this space for updates
