Westminster hosts "Why you need Grid & How do to it!" Workshop

The UK's Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) co-hosts Distributed Computing Workshop with EGEE's Business Forum. The Workshop, taking place on 21 May 2008 in London, UK, brings together an expert panel offering insight into how open source distributed computing is being applied in industry & scientific research. The event is aimed at connecting scientists funded by STFC and EGEE, with companies and players from other research councils for a hands-on discussion about opportunities for knowledge transfer and collaborative development.

EGEE has embarked on a strategic process to target businesses and especially SMEs & start-ups as the main beneficiaries of Grid adoption. The Workshop will showcase how EGEE is actively promoting partnerships with companies through the Business Associate programme to provide services offered to user communities on the EGEE infrastructure and to leverage technology transfer to other installations.

The workshop agenda offers a morning plenary session and two afternoon parallel sessions on Grid in finance and energy & Grid in Life Sciences and Healthcare.
The Expert Panel also includes John Barr, the 451 Group and Ian Osborne, Grid Computing Now!
